The night was silent, except for the pitter-patter of paw steps on the grass. Max crept stealthily through the bushes and flowers in his twolegs' garden in pursuit of a sparrow. His ears perked up as another dark figure appeared from the bushes on the other side of the garden. Max stopped dead. He didn't reconize its scent or its fur pattern.
The cat leaped early and the sparrow flew up into the trees. Max stayed put, watching the dark cat until he jumped up the fence and back into the forest.
